Ford EcoSport will launch : Early 2012

 

Ford EcoSport price will be: Rs. 7-9 Lakhs (estimated)

 

The Ford EcoSport compact SUV was unveiled at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2012 show, with the automaker saying it will eventually be sold in nearly 100 markets worldwide. Ford said the EcoSport will be produced in Brazil, India and other markets to be announced at a later time.

 

The Ford EcoSport will come with a 1-Litre Ecoboost petrol engine, which will deliver 120PS of power and a torque of 170NM. There will also be a 1.5-litre diesel engine that currently does duty in the Fiesta. This means the compact SUV will be in the region of Rs 7-9 lakh.

 

Ford EcoSport will have a huge front bumper and peeled-back head lights with a sporty rear-end. Modern and innovative, the all-new Ford EcoSport was designed to combine best-in-class design, technology, quality and safety aimed at attracting a new generation of consumers. The car has a large rear window which wraps around to the sides along with distinctive taillights. The side doors are marked by lines and claddings are provided to protect the car off the road. Alloy wheels are there to give you a pleasant ride. The windscreen minus the pillar is a major point on the rear. The suspension is also up to the market and handles all types of roads.

 

It is expected that the Ford EcoSport will having the foldable seats at rear for increasing boot space. The high elevated stance of five-seater also ensures that the Ford EcoSport is a dream to drive and equally comfortable for the passengers as well. The dash is unique but is disappointing with simply too much rigid plastics and rough materials.

The upcoming Ford EcoSport is a high performance oriented car as it built on the award winning worldwide compact car platform (B2E), which has already proved its mettle.

 

The Ford EcoSport has a mix of adventure with caution. For this the company has bolstered the Ford EcoSport with some high tech features like burglar alarm system, safety airbags, inertial back seat belts, parking sensors, fog lamps, traction control, electronic brake distribution (EBD) and anti-lock braking system (ABS).

 

Being a ford, ride and handling is a given. The power steering and height adjustable seats enable better and comfortable driving experience. The SUV will be based on Ford’s global B platform that also underpins the latest Fiesta. This means the ride and handling will be nothing short of special. The car will be a front-wheel drive only and will not have a 4 x 4 option. Instead the little crossover rides on the Ford Fiesta's front-wheel drive platform.

 

The SUV will come with a host of safety features like Cruise control element for smoother drive, ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), EBD (Electronic Distribution of Brakes) and air-bags for driver and occupants. The Ford EcoSport will get tough competition from the Tata Range Rover Evoque & Mazda CX-5, Maruti Ertiga etc.

 

The best of part of this compact SUV is the improved economy and reduced emissions at just 140g/km of CO2 on the combined cycle. It is expected that the engine will be delivering the mileage of around 20kmpl.
