Skoda Fabia is the first entrant from the premium car maker in the entry level segment in India. Skoda Fabia comes in petrol and diesel variants. The Skoda Fabia has been the toast of the audience with its stylish looks and great quality. Since its inception in 2008, the Skoda Fabia has been on the sales chart with over 15 lakh units sold in Europe and other countries. Currently the car is available with three engine options.

Skoda Fabia Engine

The Skoda Fabia has three engine variants. The petrol variant comes in a1.2-litre and 1.6-litre while a 1.2-litre engine runs in the diesel as well. The 1.2 MPI motor is an in-line, liquid cooling system, 12V DOHC, transverse in front engine with three cylinders. It has a displacement of 1198 cc which delivers a maximum power of 75 bhp at 5400 rpm with a maximum torque of 110 Nm at 3750 rpm. The 1.6 L engine with four cylinders is an in-line, liquid cooling system, 16V DOHC, transverse in front engine with three cylinders. It has a displacement of 1598 cc which delivers a maximum power of 105 bhp at 5250 rpm with a maximum torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm. The 1.2 TDI CR turbocharged engine with three cylinders is an in-line, liquid cooling system, 12V DOHC, transverse in front. It has a displacement of 1199 cc which delivers a maximum power of 75 bhp at 4200 rpm with a maximum torque of 180 Nm at 2000 rpm.

Skoda Fabia Interiors

The interiors of Skoda Fabia have an impressive dual tone design for a lavish feel. The Fabia’s upright shape lends it spacious, comfortable interiors that can easily seat five and a big boot. The front seats are wider, with generous legroom. Seat height is adjustable. Dash layout is simple and the trim feels robust but it looks basic when compared to its rivals. The hatchback boot is easy to access, and is deep enough to swallow a couple of suitcases. The seats are supportive and the driving position adjusts to fit anyone. The driver’s information display has also been redesigned, the central screen now featuring a gear-change indicator, which makes a significant contribution to higher fuel economy.

Skoda Fabia Safety Features

The Fabia seats are adjustable with front and rear head restraints to reduce the chances of injury to the neck in the eventuality of a collision. Its anti-glare interior rear view mirror makes sure you have a safe drive. The rear-windscreen is equipped with a defogger with timer, washer and wiper that increases visibility. Its remote control locking and unlocking of doors ensures your car is always safe. The Skoda Fabia is equipped with the Dual Rate Brake Assist, in addition to the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). The Fabia provides dual front airbags that keep passengers safe in case of accidents. The multi-reflector fog lamps in the Skoda Fabia is made of clear glass and maximises visibility in the most adverse weather conditions. The Fabia is equipped with the engine immobilizer.

The three variants of new Skoda Fabia are available in an aesthetic array of colors- Cappuccino Beige, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Deep Black and Flash Red.

Skoda Fabia Ride and Handling

Steering feel is much like the current-generation Polo, accurate and with good feedback. It is so compact that you can drive it and park it with utmost ease in the most congested areas. The car's handling characteristics are well-balanced and neutral. However when compared to supermini standards, controlling the car on tight turns sometimes become difficult. The suspension is tuned brilliantly to provide a perfect balance between handling and good ride quality. The result is a comfortable ride, but corresponding levels of roll through the corners.

Skoda Fabia Petrol Classic:  The base level petrol variant is loaded with an air conditioner & air quality control, Power steering & adjustable/Tilt steering. Cup holders are present on the rear as well as on the front side of this variant, remote Trunk/boot lid & fuel lid opener. For safety purposes Driver Air bags are also present, CD player with speakers on the front & rear side of the car with central locking make the car worth to purchase. 45 liter fuel tank capacity, adjustable seats supported with rear seat head rest. There is lamp in the rear luggage compartment and rear studying lamp. Height adjustable seat belts. Electronic Multi tripmeter & digital odometer with low fuel warning lights.

Skoda Fabia Petrol Ambiente: This model is the same as the petrol classic variant but with power windows on the front side, front passenger air bags & vanity mirrors. With body colored bumpers, door handles, tailgate handles & outside rear view mirror makes this car best in this range.

Skoda Fabia Petrol Elegance: Has all the ingredients of the gasoline Classic & Ambiente variants but with power window on the front & rear side, alloy wheels, ABS (anti lock brake system), tachometer, digital clock & outside temperature display along with Front & rear fog lamps.

Skoda Fabia 1.6 Petrol Elegance: Has all the features of the Petrol Elegance variant, except the power mill.

Skoda Fabia Diesel Classic: The entry level Skoda Fabia Diesel variant comes with a 1.2L, TDI CR Diesel Engine and rest of the features are same as the Petrol Classic.

Skoda Fabia Diesel Ambiente: With 1.2L, TDI CR Diesel Engine and rest of the features are same as Petrol Ambiente.

The Skoda Fabia gives excellent fuel efficiency and the diesel variant of the car delivers 14.1 km/litre within the city while on the highway it delivers 18.5 km/litre. The petrol variant of the car delivers 14.7 km/litre on highway.
