Maruti Swift

The Maruti Swift is a legend in its own right for it is the single most sold car in India. The new Maruti Swift takes forward everything you expected from the earlier model. Priced between 4.22 - 5.53 lakhs for the petrol version and 5.17 - 6.38 lakhs for the diesel version, the new Maruti Swift has taken forward the legacy of its predecessor. New Maruti Swift comes in both petrol and diesel versions in six different variants. It has been such a success in the Indian market because of its sporty styling, good performance, decent handling and a highly fuel-efficient engine.

The petrol version is run by a 1.2 liter K-series engine which delivers a maximum power of 84 BHP@6000 RPM and a torque of 115NM@ 4500RPM while the diesel version with 1248cc engine produces a maximum power of 75BHP@4000 RPM and a torque of 190NM @2000 RPM. Both the models come with a top speed of 160Km. The petrol variant delivers a mileage of 21.1 km per litre according to ARAI. On the other hand, the diesel gives a mileage of 25.8 km per litre. The overall performance of the Maruti Swift has impressed the customers especially with its eager and responsive engine.

The all-new Maruti Swift is lighter, longer and more spacious than its predecessor offering improved performance, driver dynamics and enhanced fuel economy. The curvy shape of the car is an eye-catching feature in addition to the cool body graphics and body colored mirrors, door handles and bumpers. The Company has come up with improved design of the chassis and improved suspension in the new Maruti Swift as well.

The Safety features of the Maruti Swift include a collapsible steering column along with energy absorbing trims, front seat belt and pretension along with load limiter. The petrol version has dual airbags in the front, antilock braking, brake assist function and brake force distributor (electronic). The car also allows key less entry along with Headlamp leveling and this allows the driver to adjust beam for optimum visibility.

The new Maruti Swift is an ageless beauty with good quality interiors, great features and a bit more space than the old Swift. It does have some flips like lower rear seat space, boot space and the looks which actually don’t differentiate it much from the earlier version. Once again there is an assortment of body rattles, which seems to be an inherent problem with the new Maruti Swift as well.

Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi on the occasion of the launch told, "We have launched the new Maruti Swift at a time when there was a significant demand for the outgoing model. I am confident that the new Maruti Swift will create new benchmarks with its improved fuel efficiency, stylish and sportier looks and high performance". Since its launch six years back, the Maruti Swift has been a massive hit for the company. Stats say that the with over six lakh units sold so far the new Maruti Swift will only further strengthen its position. In short the Company officials say that customers would have to wait for around 3 months before they get a delivery due to the huge demand, removing even an iota of doubt over its numero uno status.
