Nissan Sunny Sedan alias L02B is inspired from the same ‘V’ platform of the Nissan Micra. The Nissan Sunny is one of the cheapest sedans in the market and is available in both the petrol and two new diesel variants. Nissan Sunny with a 1.5 L engine configuration and a decent price tag competes with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna Fluidic, Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo Manza and the Ford Fiesta. The Nissan Sunny with its premium styling, luxury interiors and a big boot space is certainly not just a CAR, it’s a CAAAR.

Big headlamps, chrome garnish around the grille, Nissan Teana type of side profile are the key features on the exterior of Sunny. The Nissan Sunny commands attention with its subtle spottiness and looks quite attractive. The proportions of Sunny with a sloping roof give it an above the class look and elegance. The overall styling is quite simple but powerful and the overall built of the car is quite solid and is better than most of the cars belonging to the same segment. Nissan Sunny Petrol variant is equipped with a 1.5 litre power plant in petrol which shells out a max power of 100 PS and a max torque of 134 Nm mated with a five speed manual gearbox. The Nissan Sunny Diesel is powered by a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder K9K engine that returns 86PS of power @ 3750 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 2000 rpm, attached to a five speed manual transmission.

Nissan Sunny comes with ABS, EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) and a BA (Brake Assist) system. Although we are not going to get into the technical details, for the lay person, EBD means a much better breaking performance. The Brake Assist system, if activated, engages the ABS or EBD which will basically allow you to pump up the stopping power of your car in times of panic braking. The essentials in the safety include the ELR seat belts and the very efficient central locking system with keyless entry.

Control and maneuverability is at par with any other car of this segment. However, Nissan may consider putting in a spoiler at the tail due to the highly aerodynamic shape of the car. The diesel engine will be slightly heavier and this additional weight will make the Sunny"s nose to dip more while braking. Low-speed ride is good, though it does feel skittish at times. Up the pace and the Sunny feels a lot more composed with a nice flat ride. The steering is well weighted to combat the heavy front weight and this translates into a good driver experience.

The Nissan Sunny overall length is 4425mm, width 1695mm and height is 1505mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2600mm and ground clearance is 165 mm. Its kerb weight ranges from 998 kg to 1027 kg for the petrol version and 1092 kg to 1097 kg for diesel variants. It has a 490L boot capacity.

Nissan Sunny comes with a 14 inch and 15 inch alloy and steel wheels along with tubeless tyres. The Nissan Sunny XE and XL have 14*5, 5J Steel wheels and these have a tyre size of 185/70 R 14 (steel wheel), while Nissan Sunny XV has a tyre size of 185/65 R15 alloy wheels.
