Skoda introduces the 2009 Superb that brings a 7-Star experience with its superior styling and innovative engineering. The new Superb is escorted to the Indian car market with great expectations. The old Superb made a good impression in India with its magnificent performance and style. The latest version will follow the legacy of Skoda. The Superb''s striking exterior style with distinctive interior features offers a strong visual emotion. Intelligent styling lines and a bold appearance define the unique nature of this car.

Engine:
The 2009 Superb is available in two petrol variants and one diesel variant. The petrol version gives choice of two engines - 1.8-litre turbocharged engine that generates 160 bhp and 3.6-litre V6 engine with an output of 260 bhp. The diesel version sports a 2.0-litre Turbocharged, engine delivering 140 bhp.
The 1.8-litre engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual gear changing compared to a 5-speed automatic gear box in the old Superb. The 3.6-litre petrol engine and 2.0-litre diesel engine sports a 6-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic manual gear changing.

Exteriors:
Every bit on the Superb is, if it can be described in one word, long. Right from the hood to the glass house to the boot, and with clever lines on the car, the Skoda designers have managed to keep a little bit of a check on the visual mass. New Superb is unique at a closer look, yet it is designed to resemble the front grilles of all current Skoda models, being one of the characteristic features.
Directly below the front grille, at the lower part of the bumper, is an inlet for air intake, which may be lined with a chrome strip. This softens the sharp image of the vehicle and the Superb greets you with a double. The headlamps of the new model Superb, the unusual shape of which passes all the way to the sides of the wings, lend the front section of the vehicle a dynamic appearance. They form a powerfully dominant feature and a part of the elegant design of the entire vehicle.
The Twin Door, a unique system of opening the rear fifth door, is an original technical design which will take your breath away. If you wish to place smaller items in the boot, simply open the boot as you would on a classic sedan type body. But not even a heftier load is any problem for the new Superb. Thanks to the Twin Door system you can open the rear boot, including the rear window, as you would with a lift back. You thus acquire comfortable access to the luggage space, the volume of which can be increased.

Interiors
:
The Superb''s interiors may not be the liveliest, but yes, it does come with a touch screen multi-function display, which on foreign markets also houses the navigation system. The dash layout is pretty and contemporary with the typical Skoda touch of beige interiors with most welcome dashes and streaks of black. The Superb even has a tinge of wood and metal highlights to complete a rather calm and soothing ambience - something that you truly require to keep your brain in check when you floor that throttle for the very first time.
Then there''s that big gear lever for selecting the drive mode on the automatic gearbox - the one with the ''4 X 4'' chrome plate on it that we mentioned earlier. It''s probably one of the best gear levers I''ve ever seen on an auto box. The interior gets upgraded with Ivory Nappa leather upholstery and a 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat with programmable memory. The music creates magic whilst driving with Skoda''s audio player and amazing 6.5-inch LCD color touch screen. The dual zone climatronic and automatic air circulation with air quality sensors ensures an optimum environment within the cabin regardless of the weather outside. The rich comfort and convenience features of the 2009 Superb pampers like no other.

Ride and Handling:
The Superb was always a good handling car and now, even more so. Along with the four wheel drive system comes a set of larger 16-inch diameter wheels which make this car even sweeter to drive. Steering is precise and she''ll just rocket away where you''re pointing her at. If you want to have a little bit more fun, then there''s always the ESP Off switch located beside the gear stalk. Tyres on the Superb are rather low profile, but they don''t compromise on ride quality either. Overall, a great suspension setup and well-matched tyres compliment the four wheel drive system beautifully well to make for one of the sweetest handling cars in its segment.

Safety:
Airbags are an integral part of a car’s safety features today. The new Skoda Superb can offer up to eight airbags. In addition to the head airbags, driver’s and front passenger’s airbags and side airbags in the front, the Superb has a knee airbag for the driver and side airbags in the back.
In addition to electromechanical power steering with variable effect and disc brakes on all wheels, a range of electronic system ensure excellent stability and control of the Superb. Standard features include the ESP stabilising system with an EDL electronic differential lock and an HBA hydraulic brake assistant. Obviously, these systems also include ABS, MSR and ASR.

Fuel Economy:
The 1.8-litre Petrol engine gives a mileage of 9.5 kmpl in City and about 12 kmpl on Highway and the 3.6L Petrol Engine gives a mileage of 7 kmpl in City and around 11 kmpl on Highway.
Whereas the 2.0L Diesel engine gives a mileage of 11 kmpl in City and about 15 kmpl on Highway

Variants, Price and Colors
:
The 2009 Superb is available in two petrol variants and one diesel variant.
Petrol Variants- The 1.8-litre turbocharged engine and the 3.6-litre V6 engine
Diesel Variants- The diesel version sports a 2.0-litre Turbocharged engine.

Price List

The Skoda Superb comes in 5 attractive colors - Black Magic Pearl, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Candy White, Cappuccino Beige Metallic and  Rosso Brunello Metallic.
The New Superb comes with 12-Way Electrically Adjustable Driver''s Seat, 16-Inch Alloy Wheels and Cruise Control but  there is No Conventional Manual Transmission available

Our Verdict:
The V6 FSI isn''t a car for everyone who can afford to buy it. You''ve got to be really sure that you want a car that''s insanely fast and really fun to drive, and at the same time offers great comfort and unbeatable space. But for those people who can’t adjust with AT, this car is not for you.
Overall Simply Superb!!
