Volkswagen Up
Volkswagen Up is a forthcoming version of VW in India. German rooted, one of the globally popular car makers Volkswagen is setting up to launch VW Up in the beginning of 2012. It was first unleashed at Frankfurt Motor Auto Showcase, which was held in 2007. It is a tiny car which is ready to debut; it is particularly made for Indian small families with an astonishing price. The price tag of this car will falls at 3-5 lakhs in domestic market, so it will be a least-priced car in the Volkswagen wing. As per the latest reports from the Skoda India top executive Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, Skoda does not even plan to showcase the Skoda Citigo at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo. This means that Skoda India will first give way for the Volkswagen Up to prove its mettle and avoid any in house rift in the already extremely competitive market. Based on the success of Volkswagen Up, Skoda India will decide the future of the Citigo in India.
The company is preparing to produce roughly one lakh Volkswagen Up in the very first year of its establishment. India is a massive market for tiny cars like Maruti Alto, Ritz, A Star, Hyundai i10 which are already got enough popularity and profits in Indian market. The arrival of Volkswagen Up may hurt other small cars likeHyundai i10, Alto, Chevy Beat, Fiat Punto, Nissan Micra etc as per as the rivalry is concerned. The price tag of the car and the reputation of Volkswagen will keep better than their rivals in Indian market. Volkswagen will arrive in three body modes in domestic market. They are door hatchbacks, Four Door hatchback versions, and 4 door wagons.
Volkswagen India is intending to offer an all furnished tiny car, which is going to grant cosy feel to travellers on any path circumstances. Originally the company had a plan to launch a back drive and back engine later it decided not to go for it. The company has recently stated VW Up will be a front engine and front wheel drive design car. The reason behind the change of decision from rear engine to front is to reduce the cost of the car.
Volkswagen Up Engine-The Auto experts are guessing that Volkswagen Up will be coming in both petrol and diesel version in domestic market. The petrol engine will be a powerful 1.2-litre with 4-cylinder petrol motor while the second engine option is guessed to be 0.8 litres, 2-cylinder, and turbocharged diesel engine in Indian market. The 800 cc diesel engine is expected to churn out 51 hp and 100 NM while the petrol engine may have capacity to produce the power of 75 hp and top torque of 183 Nm through a six speed manual transmission with cylinder and optional auto gearbox.
Volkswagen Up Exteriors - The exterior appearance of this car will be a magnet for car adorers. Volkswagen Up will come up with 3450mm long & 1630 mm wide which is similar to its recently launched VW Polo. The 2 door prime version will be roomy and will have capacity to carry 4 travellers whereas the four door version will carry 7 passengers in it.The headlamps carry inward diagonal line while the air intake covers sleek horizontal shape between the lamps. The side profile of the car now appears a little wide which can be noticed from its long extended windows, powerful C pillar, far forwarded A pillar and butterfly doors with opposing hinges. The arch design on the bonnet and boot will attract the customers. The 18inch rear wheels will adjoin even more splendour to its outer body look. It has VW Emblem at the centre in the front side of the car. It has body coloured bumpers and body coloured mirrors which gives uttermost beauty for the car.

Volkswagen Up Interiors - Volkswagen Up comes with awesome indoor which creates a roomy atmosphere in the car. The attributes like two monitor screens in which first 8 inch monitor will display the speed, fuel stage and CO2 emissions, whereas the second monitor (7inch) will music selection, telephone, navigation, photos , movies, climate, radio and volume etc. There are two seat rows for four passengers; the rear seat is bench type that is integrated with two child seats. All the seats have airflow foam type cushion which automatically adapts to individual anatomies. The seating position is very high that allows ultra comfortable seating in the cabin. The seats can be removed and folded that further makes room for larger luggage. The routine features like A.C, Bluetooth, Audio system and other similar sorts of features are good in the car. Apart from all this, the car also has a boot space of 220 litres.
Volkswagen Up Specifications:The new Volkswagen Up specifications clearly reveal that the car is a brand new city car, designed to take the small car market by storm. The car shows off with some never before compact design, colourful interior and mileage. The car also offers maximum space with a minimal footprint, making it ideal for city driving. Volkswagen Up Specifications measures just 3.54 metres in length, 1.64 metres in width and 1.48 metres in height. It has one of the longest wheelbases in its segment. The car offers an impressive 251 litre boot capacity and increases to 951 litres when the rear seat is folded. From the launch, Volkswagen Up Specifications will come in the three-cylinder new generation petrol engines and will be available with outputs of 60 bhp and 75 bhp. Volkswagen Blue Motion technology will also be available, offering a mileage of 23.8 kmpl at 60 bhp and CO2 emissions of under 100 g/km.
Volkswagen Up Models -It is a world tiny hatchback which is still to be launched; when it comes to models the Company has showcased electric, hybrid, petrol and diesel versions of it. The company has maintained secret to Indian customer- it has not ratified which model they are going to launch in India but the expected models are Diesel Comfortline 1.2L, Diesel Trendline 1.2L and Petrol Comfortline 1.2L in Indian market.
Volkswagen Up Safety Features -The upcoming Volkswagen Up is will comes with most common safety features like central locking, side impact beams, front disc brakes, dual airbags, child seats with door locks, rear defogger, etc.
Volkswagen Up Price – The expected price tag of Volkswagen Up is around 3 to 3.5 lakhs in India. The all-new Volkswagen Up city car will cost from £7995 which roughly translates into 627 921.029 Indian rupees and is already available in the UK. For 704 496.765 Indian rupees, the Move Up adds body-coloured door mirrors and handles, remote central locking, air-conditioning and electric front windows. Special edition Up Black and Up White cars cost from 878 068.431 Indian rupees and are based on High Up models. Volkswagen Up On road Price will be inclusive of the Vehicle price, Road tax, Insurance and registration fees can further increase the cost up to 10% extra. If you want additional accessories you shall have to pay extra amount for the same.
Volkswagen Up Mileage will have a capacity to give 15-19 kilometers per liter in India. As of now, the England model with the 1 litre and 60 bhp engine delivers a overall mileage of 26.8 kmpl. The 1 litre and slightly higher 75 bhp engine delivers a mileage of 25.5 kmpl. However, for the Indian market the cars might not have the same figures and might be slightly lesser.
Volkswagen Up Ride and Handling : The 1.0-litre, 75bhp, 108g/km, five-speed manual takes 13.2sec to breach the 100 run mark. The Volkswagen Up rattles starts to rattle at 106mph, and you need to rip the engine to maintain the smoke.
