Volkswagen Rocktan is an upcoming and new SUV from Volkswagen India. It is expected to be launch in Indian market by the end of 2012. The demand for SUVs in domestic market is rising year by year, keeping this in mind Volkswagen group has officially declared to launch Rocktan in the year 2012.

The new vehicle is based on Suzuki SX4.Volkswagen and India’s largest manufacture Maruti Suzuki India limited (MSIL) collaboration has hinted some new cars to be showcased in Indian market. In which Suzuki holds 19.9 ventures and the rest holds VW, It is expected both the companies will launch 3 models namely - Volkswagen Rocktan and upgraded versions of , Alto and Wagon R with the Volkswagen emblem. 

Volkswagen Rocktan Engine- Volkswagen Rocktan will be available in both petrol and diesel versions in Indian market. The petrol will be powered by 1.4 litre TSI engine while the diesel one will be 1.6 litre and 1.2 litre TDI mill with advanced technologies. Both the engines will have a capacity to produce utmost power of 430 hp at 5900 rpm and 424 Nm of peak torque at 4600 rpm with 6 speed manual and optional 6 speed automatic gearbox. The engine will be powerful; people who love to ride fast will really like it, the pulling power of the car will be awesome.

Volkswagen Rocktan Safety Features - Volkswagen Rocktan is expected to most secured SUV with advanced safety features like all speed traction control, daytime running lights, driver and passenger airbags along with side airbags added with passenger sensing system, automatic crash response, tyre pressure monitor system, fog lamps, theft-deterrent system, power door locks, ABS, keyless access, etc.

The price tag of the Volkswagen Rocktan is depends on manufacturing plant, if it is manufactured in Indian plant the cost of the car will be around 12 lakhs. If the car is manufactured in abroad country and imported to Indian market means the cost the car will be around 20 lakhs. Both the companies have not revealed the place of manufacturing (Rocktan).  It will compete with Toyota Urban Cruiser and the upcoming Nissan Juke in Indian market.
