Rolls Royce is one of the costliest cars in the world and also one of the world's leading producers of high-end luxury cars. For more than a century, Rolls-Royce has been building luxury cars for the rich and famous people around the world. Charles Rolls and Henry Royce are the founders of Rolls Royce automotive industry. The name itself is sufficient to spark special sentiments inside an individual. It is one of the most respected automotive brands in the world. Rolls-Royce Limited was formed on 15 March 1906 and created history in the automobile industry. Rolls Royce not only produces cars but also Air Craft, Aero Engines etc. The Rolls-Royce 10 hp was the first car of Rolls Royce which was released at Manchester (England). In 1971, Rolls-Royce was crippled by the development of the advanced RB211 jet engine, resulting in the nationalisation of the company as Rolls-Royce (1971) Limited. Rolls Royce Motors came into existence in 1973 when its car business separated from Rolls Royce Limited. Quite a few mergers followed from thereon with Veckers acquiring the marquee in 1980 only to sell it to Volkswagen in 1988. This company has been known as Bentley Motors Limited, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. BMW took the ownership from Volkswagen in 2003. Currently Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a subsidiary of the BMW Group.

Rolls Royce in India:
Rolls Royce cars were imported from England to India before Indian independence. Maharajas, Zamindars and rich capitalists were using it at that time. This show that Rolls Royce cars made a history of more than seventy years in India. As everyone knows the price tag of Rolls Royce is very costly (minimum price Rs 1, 30, 00,000); its not easy to afford this beauty. The buyers who have wealth and a passion for cars are the only customers of Rolls Royce motors. Therefore only limited numbers of Rolls Royce car were sold till date in India. Rolls Royce motor company does not have manufacturing plant in India. It has only dealerships. Rolls Royce motors currently selling 3 models of car in India.

Rolls Royce Future Plan in India:
An authorized dealer of Rolls-Royce said that Rolls-Royce is expecting to sell total 50 units this year in India. This will include Ghost 2010 series, the newly launched model of the company. It plans to introduce its new product ‘Rolls Royce Ghost 4WD’ in January 2011. Some of the typical new features include Teflon-coated umbrellas and the Panorama sun roof which make the Rolls Royce Ghost 4WD extremely classy.
