Porsche Cars in India

Porsche was founded as Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG  by Ferdinand Porsche in 1931. It is a German sports car manufacturer along with Aircraft engines and Tractors. The head quarter of Porsche is located in Zuffenhausen, a city district of Stuttgart in Germany. It is responsible for the actual production and manufacture of the Porsche automobile line. The company is also the majority shareholder in Volkswagen AG, the parent company of the Volkswagen Group, which includes the automotive marques Audi, Volkswagen, Bentley Motors, Bugatti Automobiles, Skoda, SEAT and Lamborghini.

Porsche
was awarded the title of the most prestigious automobile brand by Luxury Institute, New York in 2006. Worldwide popular '911' comes from this marquee along with other formidable machines in the shape of Cayman, Boxter and the Cayenne SUV. Porsche entered Indian market by establishing Precision Cars India Private Limited as the official Porsche Importer for India in 2007.Porsche does not have automobile manufacturing plant in India but it has Porsche importing centers at Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kochi and New Delhi. 

Porsche sells Cayenne, Boxster, Cayman, Panamera and 911 model cars in the country through Precision Cars India, the official Porsche importer for India. The price of these exclusive cars varies from a base price of Rs 59 lakh to Rs 2.05 crore in India. Nevertheless, the German company sold 94 new cars 2009 and it plans to increase the numbers of sales in the upcoming years. Porsche has sold 16,000 Panameras globally. During its global launch last year, Porsche had vowed to sell a minimum of 20,000 units.

Porsche Future plans in India:
Porsche plans to launch hybrid and diesel versions for the Panamera in 2011 and also Porsche Cayman Club Sport an improved version of Cayman. It plans to launch a New Boxter in 2012. Company will launche the long-rumored “Baby-Boxter” a Volkswagen Blue sport based car in 2013 and the New 928,a Panamera-based GT powered by V8 engine in the same year. Finally Porsche plans to launch it's 918 Spyder in 2014.
