Maruti Swift Dzire is the sedan version of Maruti Swift and it has been launched in six versions, 3 versions are petrol and 3 are in diesel. The car was launched in March 2008 and the new swift is a mid size vehicle and it is also called the 3- box version of Maruti Swift. Swift Dzire has been introduced in the market in two versions 1.3 liters petrol engine version and 1.3 liters DDiS multi jet diesel engine. The car attracts family customers and it performs better on India roads. Maruti Swift Dzire comes with features such as Automatic climatic control and five seater capacity. The new car also has safety Airbags and collapsible steering. Maruti Suzuki has planned to produce the car in Indian units only. The main competitors of the Dzire are Fiat Linea, Logan, Verna, Indigo and Ford Fiesta.
Maruti Swift Dzire Interiors:The Maruti Swift Dzire interior has a luxurious look and feel with the use of good materials. The steering wheel is the same unit that is offered with the Swift and SX4. The instrument cluster has round dials with chrome surround and features a white backlight. Compared to the hatchback, the most notable changes in the sedan are in the top-end variants that now come with standard steering mounted controls for the music system and the new music system has been well integrated into the dashboard to add a lot of charm. But still I found the rear leg space a little cramped. The VXi, ZXi, VDi, and ZDi come with quality fittings like integrated audio system, tachometer, and convenience features such as audible headlights-on reminder, centre and front cabin lights, vanity mirror, rear seat center armrest, and front electric power windows. The top-end ZXi and ZDi variants are equipped with more upscale features like front Airbags, ABS with EBD brake assist, Rear Window Defogger, Adjustable tilt steering, and Automatic Climate control. The interiors look and feel good, but might start to rattle with age.
Maruti Swift Dzire Engine Specifications: The Esteem’s replacement is a Swift with a boot. It’s available with the same engines as its hatchback cousin which is the 1.3 litre petrol unit from the Esteem and the fabulous DDIS multi jet diesel motor from the Swift Diesel. The petrol has all the action towards the top-end of the power band and may feel a little lethargic when fully loaded. The diesel however, is the one that makes the most of the torque available. The gearbox is again carried over from the Swift, so it comes with a sweet shifting action with short and direct throws. The petrol engine is a 1298cc 16-valve In-line 4 that delivers power of 87 bhp@6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 113 Nm@4500 rpm. The diesel variants get a 1248cc turbocharged DDiS engine that generates power of 75 bhp@4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 190 Nm@2000 rpm. Both the engines feel very refined and have enough power.
Maruti Swift Dzire Exteriors:The Swift Dzire retains the cheeky appeal of its hatchback sibling with a more premium look. Though the front fascia looks almost the same as the hatchback, it has got a flashy chrome grille and slightly sharper design headlamps. From the side, the sedan has a complete redesign compared to the hatch, especially from the second pillar. It has bigger doors and larger window glass areas that make occupants feel roomier. But still the rear legroom is very disappointing and feels very cramped. Front seats are comfy and very supportive. Chrome has been biggest hit among Indians and now a Maruti car gets that. The boot lid of the Maruti Dzire is a chrome strip connecting the two vertical tail lamps. The boomerang tail lamp gets a new horizontal type turn indicators. Suspension has been returned for the Swift Dzire to bear the additional weight. The body roll is well under control but the ride quality is a little bit bumpy, u have to slow it down over pot holes and patchy roads.
Maruti Swift Dzire Ride and Handling: The rear suspension has been stiffened due to the added weight of the boot and the Maruti Swift Dzire already had a slightly bumpy rear seat ride, this remains in the Swift Dzire as well. This means on rough patches, you will have to slow down unlike in the Logan which you can drive without a care over bad roads. But the stiff settings pay dividends in handling. You can push the car through corners, there is minimal body roll and the EPS steering also feels precise that weighs up with speed. Overall, the Maruti Swift Dzire gives the driver good feel and Ride and Handling is similar to the Swift hatchback. Maruti Swift Dzire Safety Features: Maruti Swift Dzire comes with the advance Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, collapsible steering column and an i-CATS anti-theft facility. Many of these features are first-time offerings in the segment. In the top-end variants ZXi and ZDi, you get two airbags and ABS as standard.

The diesel Engine has even better mileage and it gives a mileage of 14 kmpl in City and about 19 kmpl on Highway. Without any doubt Maruti Swift Dzire's trump card is the mileage. Verna, Indigo come a distant second and only competition is from Mahindra Renault Logan.
