Hyundai India made a public opinion that it is one of the superb and extraordinary car manufacturers in India. Hyundai India has got the history of six decades. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), South Korea. It was the beginning of LPG (Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization) in India. The government of India announced that the Foreign Direct investments (FDI) are allowed 100% in automobile industry to increase the national and per capita income of India taking it as an advantage South Korean multinational company, the Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) established their company in India in 1996 as HMIL.
Hyundai India took a part of competition by establishing their integrated auto-manufacturing unit in India in 1997 at Irrungattukotai near Chennai. This plant was capable of producing 1, 20,000 cars, and 1, 30,000 engine and transmission systems per year. After getting a huge success, HMIL planned to start its second plant at Chennai to cater to rising demands and executed the plan in February 2008. This produces an additional 300,000 units per Year, raising HMIL’s total production capacity to 600,000 units per Year. No one might have ever thought that Hyundai India will reach up to sky heights within a short period in India. Now Hyundai is currently the second largest carmaker after Maruti Suzuki and largest auto exporter in India.
The marketing strategies of HMIL are superb for example HMIL is one the official partners of FIFA cup 2004.
Hyundai India presently markets 6 models of passenger cars across segments. The A2 segment includes the Santro, i10 and the i20, the A3 segment includes the Accent and the Verna Transform, the A5 segment includes the Sonata Transform.
The recent Press release of Hyundai India explained that it is the largest passenger car exporter and it has reached a historic milestone with the sale of its vehicles, including exports, reaching 3 million marks. The occasion marked the announcement of several attractive schemes & promotions for all the existing and potential consumers of Hyundai India. They are planning to beat Maruti Suzuki in the upcoming years.
Hyundai India future plans
Hyundai India plans to establish a new diesel engine plant in India. Hyundai India is investing 400crore in the next three years to launch a new diesel manufacturing plant in India. According to official sources the plant will have an ability to manufacture 1.5 lakh diesel engines per Annam. The company has yet not revealed the place of the plant but expected in Chennai.
Hyundai India currently has 2 manufacturing plants near Chennai. But both the plants manufacture only petrol engines. Earlier Hyundai India was importing diesel engines from their abroad manufacturing units, so the set-up of new plant near Chennai will manufacture 1.1L, 1.4L and 1.6L diesel engines. The company will start manufacturing by 2013-2014.
Hyundai India sales and network
Hyundai entered Indian market in 1998 with 59 dealerships across the country. It got a huge success in Indian market, the growth of Hyundai in India is unimaginable within 12 years it acquired the success and now stands at 2nd largest car manufacturer after Maruti Suzuki in India. Hyundai is much popular with its brand i10 which has won the award ‘car of the year’. Hyundai India reported that it has reached 300th dealership in India. Hyundai India has opened its 300th dealership in Karur, Tamil Nadu. It also plans to extend its dealership up to 320 by the end of the year 2012. At the same time Hyundai India is also indulged in pre-owned business or used cars business, which has 112 sales outlets and 130 Hyundai Advantage dealers. Hyundai is now targeting 610 sales outlets, 542 dealerships by the end of the year. Currently it has 608 service networks and it plans to end up with 625 by the end of 2012.
Hyundai India Best cars
Hyundai i10 – Hyundai India launched Hyundai i10 in 2007. It is one of the best selling cars in India which has won the award ‘car of the year 2009’. Within a short period of time it has seen unbelievable growth, it has now become the flagship car for Hyundai Company. The i10 has been exported all across South Asia. The i10 is one of India's safest vehicles, earning high marks on the Euro NCAP safety tests. Because of its safety and affordability, the i10 sells well among urban families. The fuel efficiency is good with sexy looks and the price tag of this car comes in between 4 to 6 lakhs.
