27-June-2012: Hyundai Eon tops the online car search result leaving behind the stalwarts like Mahindra XUV 500, Honda Brio, Tata Manza, Maruti Kizashi and Toyota Liva. The study by A.C. Nielsen on behalf of Google India reveals this amazing feat by the Eon. Clearly this shows that the Hyundai Eon has hit the mark in the very first attempt. In spite of being an entry level hatchback, the car comes with stylish looks, plenty of variants to choose from, LPG kit option, robust and fuel efficient engines based on your requirement, all this combined with a price of under 3 lakhs and the Hyundai badge surely makes it the most wanted car.

13-Oct-2011: Hyundai Eon exclusive updates. The Hyundai Eon as per the ARAI gives 21.1 kmpl mileage compared to 20.2 kmpl of the Alto K10 and 18.0 kmpl of the Chevrolet Spark. The Hyundai Eon is BSIV compliant PL model.The Hyundai Eon overall specifications are as follows. The car measures 3,495mm in length and 1,500 in width. The height of the car is 1,500 mm. The wheel base is 2,380 mm. The front track measures 1,386 mm while the rear track is 1,368 mm. The Eon has a ground clearance of 170 mm. The car has a fuel tank capacity of 32 litre. The boot space is a best in class with a capacity of 215 litre. The Hyundai Eon Engine configuration comes in 814 cc displacement with 3 cylinders and 9 valves. The engine is SOHC valvetrain type. The car has a maximum power of up to 56 bhp at 5,500 rpm. The maximum torque of the car is 7.6 kgm at 4,000 rpm.


The Hyundai Eon India has a five speed manual gear transmission. The front suspension is McPherson Strut with Coil spring and Anti Roll Bar while the rear suspension is Torsion Beam Axle with coil spring. The Hyundai Eon has a Gas type shock absorber. The braking system of the car has disc brake at the front and drum brakes for the rear. The Hyundai Eon tyre specifications are 145/80 R12 size for the D-lite, D-lite (O), and Era variants.  The Magna, Magna (O) and Sportz have the tyre size of 155/70. The tyres are tubeless.

12-Oct-2011: The Hyundai Eon is speculated to come in four variants namely D-Lite, D-lite (O), Era, Magna, Magna (O) and Sportz variants. However there has been no official confirmation yet on the exact variants and their prices. The D-Lite Variant will be the entry level car with body colored bumpers but will not have the AC and power drive option. The D-lite-(O) though has air conditioning but might lack the power steering.  The power steering finally makes its appearance with the Hyundai Eon Era variant.


The Hyundai Eon Magna variant is expected to come with bigger 13 inch tubeless tyres loaded with some high tech comforts. The car will boast of an entertainment console in the form of a music system for the Magna(O) variant. The Hyundai Eon Sportz variant is the top end model fully loaded with front air bags. Surely this Diwali the Audience will be spoilt for choice.

Hyundai Eon is the going to be the cheapest yet latest offering from Hyundai this Diwali. Hyundai Eon will be the eighth car and the fourth hatchback by Hyundai. The buzz is that this latest entrant is already being called as Hyundai HA and Hyundai 800. This new Hyundai Eon price is sure to stir the hornet’s nest with a price range of under Rs 3 lakh. To be precise the Hyundai Eon price is expected to come in the range of 2.5 lakhs. The car is expected to compete with the likes of Maruti Alto and the Tata Nano.

Hyundai Eon Exteriors: The Hyundai Eon specifications for the exteriors are inspired from the Hyundai i10 platform but will be a little smaller compared to the i10. The Hyundai Eon overall proportion will also not be as tall as the Santro. The Hyundai Eon will have features somewhat similar to the likes of the Tata Nano and Maruti Alto. The front fiasco resembles a six plate grille. The hexagonal grille seems to be the norm of Hyundai’s style statement these days. The head lamps are large with clamp type bonnet which gives it a sporty look. The fog lamps can be availed as an optional feature.

The back side of the Hyundai Eon has a crunchy look with curves and split pattern. The car has a wide back. The tail lamps are elongated and sleek which makes it different from the rest of the pack. The suspension is beam type which gives it more road presence and comfort.The Hyundai Eon has a sweeping shoulder with body colour handles and side mirrors.  The car can be expected to come with turn indicators on the ORVMs. The Hyundai Eon specifications are expected to be just less than four meters and will be somewhat like the Hyundai i10 with a squeezed feel.

Hyundai Eon Interiors: The Hyundai Eon does not boasts of many interior comforts. So not many interior features are expected out of this car. Hyundai Eon is based on the fluidic model of Hyundai. So, one can think of a smooth and comfortable journey. The car is equipped with features like power steering, front power windows, air conditioner and levers for fuel lid and tail gate in the fully loaded variant. The entry level of the Hyundai Eon may not have the same high end features. There will be a manual mechanism for the driver’s seat adjustment including the steering. The Hyundai Eon is expected to be better than the Maruti Alto in terms of interior comfort with good leg room. The dash board is not very heavily decorated and as optional feature of music system. The upholstery will also not be very lavish but nonetheless it will not be of low quality as well.

As told earlier the car will not have lavish comforts like air conditioners for the entry level variant. It might also lack central locking, key less entry, no rear arm rest etc. There will be two seat belts for the rear passengers. In short the Hyundai Eon is not expected to come with a faulty machine like the Tata Nano. It will be up to the likes of Hyundai i10 in terms of the comfort and will also have a better quality.

Hyundai Eon Ride & Handling: The Hyundai Eon is equipped with good braking mechanism to ensure total control even at speeds of 135 kmph. The front brakes for the Hyundai Eon are disc brakes and the rear has the usual drum brakes. Overall the braking system offers total road control and handling compared to any other car in the small segment. The car will have a five speed manual gear transmission.

Hyundai Eon Safety Features: Even though the Hyundai Eon India falls in the small segment, the company is introducing it as an A segment car.  This means the car offers complete safety. The car has rear seat belts for the back passengers which are often ignored in the small segment. The car has a manual central locking system to avoid unwanted entry in to the car. This should keep the thefts at bay from your car. The car also has outside rear view mirrors on both sides of the doors for enhancing your drive experience and helps you stay clear from oncoming vehicles. The Hyundai Eon is expected to offer total road control even at break neck speeds.

Hyundai Eon Models: The entry level Hyundai Eon variant will be equipped with an 814 cc engine. The variant will not have features like power steering, power windows. Hyundai Eon GL: The high end model of the Hyundai Eon specifications also has advanced features like power steering, power windows, music system besides other safety features. The Hyundai Eon price for the high end can go up to 3 lakhs.

Hyundai Eon Mileage: From the Hyundai Eon one can arrive at the conclusion that the Hyundai will be fuel efficient in order to beat its other competitors in the highly competitive small car Indian market. Hyundai Eon is expected to deliver a mileage of 18 kmpl in the city and 22 kmpl on the highways.

Hyundai Eon Engine: The Hyundai Eon will be powered by an 800cc engine with a maximum power of 48 bhp which is the usual norm for a small car. The engine will likely have 3 cylinder petrol engines which can give a torque of up to 50 Nm. From the Hyundai Eon specifications it is evident that the Hyundai Eon can clock the speed of 100 kmph in 21 seconds. The hatchback Hyundai Eon can reach a top speed of 135 Kmph.

Hyundai Eon price: The Hyundai Eon price will be at the range of 2.5 lakhs and one cannot expect the usual comforts that are offered in the Hyundai cars. The Hyundai Eon India base variant will lack advanced safety features, automatic options and entertainment features.
