15-Dec-2011: Honda City Updates: Honda City once again made its dominance felt in the entry level sedan market with the launch of its refreshed flagship City in India, slashing the price by Rs 50,000 compared to that of the existing model. The refreshed version of the new City starts at prices ranging from Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 10.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The old City was priced between Rs 7.49 lakh and Rs 9.89 lakh.

The City sales have been facing stiff resistance from other models in the segment such as Hyundai Verna, Maruti SX4 and Volkswagen Vento. While Verna, SX4 and Vento offer both diesel and petrol options, City comes only in petrol variant.

In June, Honda reduced the price of its City models by at least Rs. 60,000. In August, it reduced the price of its premium Jazz hatchback by at least Rs1.65 lakh. Jazz is now available at Rs. 5.50 lakh. The new City models are equipped with a 1.5-litre, new generation i-VTEC petrol engine that delivers 118 PS power and fuel economy of 16.8 km a litre.

Honda's forte in India has been the low-volume premium segment, where it sells the City, Civic and Accord sedans and the CR-V SUV. But the stupendous growth of late entrants such as Volkswagen and Nissan has forced Honda to concentrate on volumes.

The New Honda City is a sedan from the promising car manufacturer Honda Company. The first generation of Honda City was introduced in 1996. It got a huge response from Indian customers; The Company soon decided to launch upgraded version of it. So, finally the upgraded version of Honda City was launched in 2008 and names it as the ‘New Honda City’. 

  

Honda City Engine - The New Honda City is equipped with a well refined 1.5L, 1497cc, 4 cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine with the 5-speed manual transmission gearbox and produces power 118 PS @ 6600rpm. On the other hand it delivers a torque of 146Nm at the rate of 4800 rpm. The i-VTEC Engine provides superior efficiency of the car. The Engine noise can hardly be heard when the motor runs which tells us that the Engine is designed nicely.

Honda City Exteriors – The New Honda City is capable to rob your heart; it has got gorgeous exterior design. The new Honda city has a very stylish and classy look. Although, a lot of people love the older city, with its sedate 20th century grand old dame saloon look. You will like this car because it looks more aerodynamic and an Integrated engine with ZX series. The Headlights are also very elegant and crystal clear. The features like Side Protectors, Bumper Protectors, Rear under Spoiler, Trunk Spoiler, Back up sensor, side step garnish, side under spoiler, and front under spoiler makes the car unique. Overall it looks great with excellent mileage.

Honda City Interiors – The moment you step inside the New Honda City you will love it. It has got wide dashboard which looks awesome. The comfort in Honda City is just fantastic! There is lots of leg room in the front and rear seats. You will feel that the comfort and space is good as it is in Skoda Octavia and we get it for 5 lakh lesser too. There is more than enough space for 5 and maybe a child squeezed in too. Compare to the old Honda City this flavour is roomy and very comfortable. The headspace is good enough for a 6ft tall person. And now coming to the Dashboard, it is packed with advanced looking Instrumental Panel with classy looks. It gives sufficient room to carry your luggage. The quality of the seats is good you will feel smoothness of it in the first sight itself. The two-tone beige colored interior design is good. Overall it looks great compare to the earlier version of Honda city. 

       

Honda City Safety Features – The New Honda City is equipped with some basic safety features like ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) technologies, Dual SRS airbags, pre-tensioner seat belts and G-CON (G-Force Control Technology) body with a crush-proof survival zone.  Instant braking has a good safety. The basic model of the car also has 2 Airbags for safety .The car provides a decent ride on Indian roads. Overall the car ensures the safety for all the occupants in case of Accidents.

Honda City Ride and Handling - The New Honda City is loaded with a robust 1.5L, 1497cc, 4 cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine with the 5-speed manual transmission gearbox and produces power 118 PS. Honda city gives you a smooth drive and great pick up. It took around 11 seconds for 0-100kmph and got a top speed of around 172kmph. Honda city is equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) technologies with 2 airbags which guarantees the safety for passengers in case of collision.

Honda City Fuel Efficiency - With the new i-VTEC Engine the fuel efficiency is improved compared to the earlier VTEC engine and the New Honda City gives an average mileage of 14 km per litre on roads and roughly 17 km per litre on highways which makes you to feel good in sedan segment.

Honda City Accessories - The New Honda City comes with an improvised Music System compared to the older version. It has an Integrated Audio system with attachments provided for iPod, Mp3 player, USB etc. and the BASS effect is really good.
