Toyota innova (New Launches)
Toyota Innova 2012
Toyota Innova 2012 also joined the bandwagon of new launches at the Auto Expo in the first week on January. The new Innova gets a major overhaul in terms of the styling and this is noticeable right from the first instance.
In terms of the exteriors, the new Toyota Innova 2012 gets a slightly wider and more upright grille. The new central ridge just above the Toyota logo is also quite visible along with ‘V’ in the bonnet lines. The headlights have been extended all the way right back to just above the front fenders, which are also new. The overhaul is completed with a restyled front bumper that features a bigger air-dam and neatly ensconced fog lights.
In terms of the side view, the Toyota Innova 2012 looks much like the old model. The rearview mirror-mounted indicators, however slightly begs to differ. The alloy wheels and skirting on the sides not wanting to be left behind also participate in the redesign. The tail lamps have also joined the re style which are re-profiled along with a wider chrome bar above the number plate.
On the inside, the cabin is still the same old spacious. This time however it is finished with plastics in a lighter hue of beige. The faux wood trimmings are also darker than before. The new dual-tone seat covers make the new Toyota Innova 2012 richer than ever before.
The centre console is now encompassed in faux silver trim. The high end VX variant gets a six-inch touchscreen for audio, DVD and Bluetooth telephony functions and can be operated via buttons on the new four-spoke steering wheel. Then there is also a reverse camera to the VX variant.
In terms of the ride and handling, the new Toyota Innova 2012 performs like the old version. The driving factor and refinement is the usual top notch on the turbocharged diesel engine. On the flipside you might be left wanting for some more power to make the Innova an even better highway cruiser. This does not take away the fact that the Toyota Innova 2012 is still a good example of ride and handling.
Overall the new updates do not do much harm to the existing brand value of the Toyota Innova 2012. It still holds itself in good stead with the same reliability and practicality. The Innova has surely moved notches higher and feels more up market. This could also be a slight disappointment as it is also priced at 9.40lakh for the base model.
The new Toyota Innova 2012 base model comes with a 2.0Ltr,4cyl petrol engine which powers 132 PS with 181Nm torque while the 2.5Ldiesel engine delivers 102 PS and 200 Nm torque.
The Toyota Innova 2012 specification for the new model stands at 4525 mm, width and height of 1760 mm, wheelbase of 2750 mm and has a ground clearance of 176 mm. The overall kerbweight stands at 1680 kg with 15 inch wheels. The front brakes are ventilated discs while the rear is drums and the all this equipment is run by an engine of 2494 cc displacement.
