It is a great value for money, offers a smooth run, with great speed and big comfort as well.

The Indica eV2 comes with an all new CR4 Common Rail Diesel engine that has a displacement of 1396 cc delivering 70 PS at 4000 RPM. With a higher torque of 140 NM at a lower 1800-3000 RPM, improvements in the gear ratios, starter motor protection and less kerb weight, the Tata Indica eV2 is also quite nippy in performance. The new CR4 engine means 32 percent increase in power, 65 percent increase in torque as well as a 46 percent improvement on fuel efficiency. The Tata Indica eV2 also comes with an MPFI petrol engine and both these engines are compliant with BS-IV emission norms. This ensures the car hits the magical mileage of 25 kmpl.

In terms of the ride and handling, the Auto-Drive Assist keeps the engine running even if your feet is off the clutch, thus enabling the driver to easily shift his foot to the accelerator. It also has a first of a kind Clutch-To-Start feature that ensure that one cannot crank the engine unless the clutch is fully disengaged; hence there is no risk of re-crank if engine is on.

There are slight changes in the new Indica’ body shape, including sharper bonnet and wheel arch which helps to overcome aerodynamic effects to some extent. The dashboard looks decent with quality AC vents provided which ensure that you remain cool even after a long journey. The interiors are spacious with a capacity to accommodate five people at a time.

The Tata Indica eV2 range is available in four exciting colours- Apple Green, Neo Orange, Arctic Silver and Mint White. The car comes with a warranty of 24 months or 75000 km whichever is earlier. The Tata Indica eV2 is in the range of Rs 4 lakh and Rs 4.84 lakh, Ex-Showroom Chennai for the CR4 diesel engine and in the range of Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.65 lakh, Ex-Showroom Chennai, for the MPFI petrol.

However the all new Tata Indica eV2 does have some drawbacks with lack of airbags and tachometer available only for the diesel. The air conditioner is very good and cools the interior in no time but does so with a lot of noise. The looks could also have been given some more thought and the base model lacks power steering, power window and air conditioner as well. The build quality is poor and could have been more refined.
