The all-new diesel engine in the Beat (designated XSDE Smartech) is a three-cylinder version of the Chevrolet SDE four-cylinder equipment. The 957 cc, three-cylinder diesel develops 57 bhp at 4000 rpm with 150 Nm of maximum torque at 1750 rpm derived from the Fiat Multijet diesel.
