Nissan Sunny and Nissan Micra move forward with the New Year with a price increase. The hikes in the rates are approximately in the range of 0.56 to 2.09 percent, depending on the model. The change in the prices is applicable with immediate effect from January 20, 2012.

This means that the Nissan Micra petrol will pinch Rs 3,000 more from your pocket. The Nissan Micra price is currently at Rs 4.10 lakh for the base version, while the diesel model sees a price hike of Rs 12,000, which currently costs Rs 5.72 lakh.

The Nissan Sunny petrol also will also follow suit with its fellow cousin and comes at cost of Rs 5,000 extra. The Nissan Sunny Price currently costs Rs 5.78 lakh for the base variant. Surprisingly the Nissan Sunny Price of the diesel remains unchanged.

The company claims that the reason for the price is the rising input material costs and depreciating rupee. Speaking on the latest price rise of the Nissan’s India portfolio cars, Nissan Motor India managing director, Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, said, "The rising input costs and depreciating rupee have left us with no option but to revisit the prices of our models in order to maintain our business momentum."

Sunny Petrol was launched in India in September, 2011. Micra was launched in India in July, 2010 and, so far, over 25,000 Micra's have been sold in India.
