Hyundai Santa Fe Goes the Fluidic Way

Hyundai Santa Fe will soon follow suit with the rest of its cousins like the Hyundai Verna Fluidic and Hyundai i20. The car will receive the carmaker’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ makeover and the new pics of Santa Fe clearly show the design changes on the new Santa Fe.
In terms of the front looks, the Hyundai Santa Fe now stands along with most of its global models. The head lamps are an inspiration from the new Verna. The traditional hexagonal grille is a rip off from the upcoming Sonata. However, it looks like the grille gets a slight overdose of chrome.
On the whole, it has an aggressive looking front styling which is well supported by a thick bumper and larger fog-lamps and LED-driving lights incorporated in the fog-light housing. The aggressive styling continues on to the sides with flared wheel arches, huge ORVMs, a prominent beltline and an upward-swooping window line. At the rear, the SUV gets reworked LED tail-lamps and redesigned tail-gate and bumper.
There are no details on the engine as yet. We expect Hyundai to reveal the production-version of the new Santa Fe at the New York Auto show. The 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe comes in three trims: GLS, SE and Limited. All-wheel drive is available on all trim levels. The all-new second-generation Hyundai Santa Fe is a big step up in terms of styling and performance.
The Santa Fe SE gets a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 175 horsepower and 169 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual is standard. A 3.5-liter V6 good for 276 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque tied to a six-speed automatic is optional on the Limited and standard on the SE. The Hyundai Santa Fe has been a strong safety performer as well, with the IIHS Top Safety Pick nod renewed for 2012.
